Valentines Day

Valentines day is usually not a super huge deal at our house, no crazy sing-o-grams or lavish gifts, but Chris and I always do a little something to acknowledge our love for one another. Before we were married and living in different cities Chris would send me flowers and we would be all lovey dovey and be all like, "I miss you". After we moved in together and got married we would use it as an excuse to go out for a nice dinner. Now that we have a kid we are mostly just focused on showing Maya that we love each other and that she is loved. I think that is important for kids to see at home. Anyway, one thing that I have done over the years is make a pancake breakfast. I cut the pancakes into hearts and then set the table with a nice card and maybe some candy and then Chris comes down stairs to pig out.  Here's how it turned out this year.

I made sure to have a serving of fruit with my pancakes and I had some leftover grilled veggies and pork for lunch that came to about two servings. So two more to go at dinner. Chris is making some ginger beef chinese dish something or other.

Hope you get to spend valentines day with your loved ones!

We're in sunny Florida for a two week vacay!  Don't even think about it burglars, we have someone staying at the house along with a very protective dog!  I won't be blogging much while we are here, but there is going to be big news when we get back.  Big news!

.....and then there will be lots to talk about!

Happy New Year!

Hey everyone it's Miss Maya here! My mom has been real busy and a lot has been going on! There's a lot to look forward to in the new year! Everyone is sick at our house right now so we are staying in for New Years this year. My mommy says she promises to get back on here real soon - she's got lots to write about but so little time! I better get back in bed now before mom finds out! Bye for now!

TODAY'S MOTIVATION

Today I am simply thinking of the satisfaction that is felt from achievement rather than the hopelessness that is felt from failing.

RANT OR RAVE

Home made gifts are always the best, always made from the heart. I received some goodies this year but it just isn't the same when you can't have any of it.  There are so many things sitting in my kitchen right now including peanut butter balls (my favourite), bits n' bites, banana bread (oh my goodness!), "hello dollies" (heavenly), cookies, jelly bellies, jellies, jams.   How am I going to get rid of all of it?

Ok I ate some of the jelly bellies.

What can I say? Juicy pear is my favourite flavour!

RANDOMS

Christmas with Maya was fun, she actually loved opening presents. I thought she would just be interested in tearing paper and putting it in her mouth but she actually opened them and played with the toys. How was Christmas at your house?

When we were at my parent's house Maya got to spend time with her two year old cousin. The two of them are just so precious together. Here you can see her cousin trying to feed her during meal time.

Just like two peas in a pod.

Happy Holidays!

TODAY'S MOTIVATION

I love this kid so flippin' much! Crazy hair and all!

RANT OR RAVE

My husband has to work Christmas eve and Christmas day. Boo! But on the bright side we don't have to go anywhere and it will be nice and quiet around here! Maybe snuggle up with Maya and watch some movies!

RANDOMS

Last night we went to a park the next town over and showed Maya all the Christmas lights. Gunther got to come along too and he was loving it.  I forgot my camera (I'm obsessed with documenting her first year in a scrapbook) so I had to use my phone and ended up with these.

Guess you had to be there! Happy Holidays from my family to yours!
